We have not written much on autism on our site as of yet, though you will be hearing a lot more from us. Autism is a disease of our generation, growing by leaps and bounds while our conventional medical system is not only doing nothing about it, their practices are believed to be part of the cause.
Did you know there is a vaccination defense fund? From every vaccination shot given, a portion of the cost (whether paid by the patient, insurance company, etc) is put into a fund to protect vaccine manufacturers from litigation. So far billions have been awarded to affected families… And your Dr. will still tell you they are not a problem? Or even have a closed practice to those who want to express their individual right not to vaccinate there children…unconscious acts from ignorant individuals. There is a link to autism.
On a recent Oprah Winfrey show titled, Jenny McCarthy & Holly Robinson Pete-Their fight to save their autisic sons (www.oprah.com) these two mothers spoke about the challenges and the victories that they have had to bring their children back to health.
We want to give tremendous kudos to Oprah and both of these mothers not only for bringing attention to this topic, inspite of phsicians and most of the medical establishment not listening, but for the tremedous work they have done for their own children.
Often times healing does not happen overnight and one needs that Health Warrior Attitude to keep pushing through, despite the obstacles that present themselves.
We will have follow up posts on autism, what people can do, until them we encourage you to read the transcripts from the show.

Robert and Amy

The Journal of the American Medical Association Sept. 13 report outlines that the diabetes drug Avandia increased heart attacks by 42 percent and doubled rates of heart failure. The report mentioned was based on a meta-analysis which means that the reasearchers used data from multiple studies. An interesting factoid is that in the package insert, the drugs maker, Glaxo Smith Kline, notes under adverse reactions relating to cardiovascular events: Carviovaxular edema (5%) and an exacerbation of Congestive Heart Failure (<1%)
The way that Avandia works is by lowering blood glucose levels by improving target cell response to insulin, without increasing pancreatic insulin secretion. This mechanism of action is much better than many of the older classes of oral diabetic drugs which basically increased pancreatic insulin secretion, basically over working and wasting the pancrease without addressing the underlying core issue. This being said, such an increase in cardiovascular issues is uncceptable, the end result being a need for better education and a preventative focus so people do not have to find themselves in such a predicament.
Avandia is used to treat type 2, or non-insulin dependant diabetes. This was once known as adult onset diabetes, though the disease is finding itself in younger adults and children.
Non-insulin dependant diabetes means that the body is still producing its own insulin, though possibly not enough, or there is a problem in the effective utilization to control blood sugar.
Insulin dependant diabetes is basically when the body is not kicking out the insulin, possibly the islet cells that do so are destroyed, thus requiring the need for an outside source. Insulin dependant diabetes can occur at any age, though commonly in earlier years. There is worldwide research now showing that there might be an element of infection at work here.
The interesting thing about this study is that it focus’ on a drug that treats the type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependant diabetes), which is often controlled, improved and even eradicated by diet, lifestlye and nutritional changes. People who are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are often at risk for heart disease and other illness’ that fall under the metabolic syndrome title (see previous article on hidden sources of sugar). This being said would’nt it be prudent to monitor peoples blood sugar levels and take action BEFORE they need such medication.

Did you know that the United States is the second largest consumer of refined sugar, second only to Germany. How often do you hear news stats on our obese society, and morbid metabolic issues such as diabetes and heart disease.
The biggest factor to the metabolic syndrome that we face as a society is insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is the body’s inability to effectively manage blood sugar through the use of insulin.
One of the biggest factors is this over consumption of refined sugars. Now, let us begin, refined sugar is not a food and it should not be consumed. It is only a manufactured poison, a darling of the packaged food industry that is addictive, cheap to incorporate in to faux food products, basically killing our society for profit.
What we want to address is the hidden sources of sugar that can promote the same dramatic effect on our health. When you think of sugar, you tend to think of the “obvious suspects”- the table sugar you use in your coffee, candy, soda and deserts. The reality is, if you eat most prepared food (snack foods, frozen TV dinners, canned soup, packaged cereals, bread, frozen waffles, crakers, tomato sauce, condiments such as ketchup and steak sauce) you are eating sugar. Once you start reading food labels, you will be amazed to see that various forms of sugar (sucrose, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, dextrose, turbinado, maple sugar, etc.) are common ingredients in prepared food. Organic, so-called “natural” sugar or honey is no better. Some experts estimate that many people may unknowingly be eating between forty to sixty teaspoons of sugar a day in their food.
What is of major concern is the high rate of consumption of high fructose corn syrup, or fructose, a cheap, very sweet sugar which is finding its way into more and more prepared foods and even nutritional food products (often by leading nutraceutical companies–READ THE LABELS!!)
Although fructose is low on the glycemic index (a misleading tool that rates the conversion to glucose) it can cause serious health problems. The major problem is that it promotes the insulin resistance mentioned above and promotes FAT STORAGE! It actually causes more damage inside your body than glucose, which is found in table sugar, though we are not recommending table sugar (combo of fructose and glucose)as an alternative.
Stay tuned for follow up articles on alternatives to sweeten up your life.

In less than a century, chronic degenerative disease has become analogous with the natural process of aging. Naturally, this should not be the case, though through issues of diet, lifestyle, and environment, degenerative disease and aging have become quite a pair. It is not time that ages the body, it is abuse and neglect that ages the body. Aging should be a natural process, free of illness, and without serious loss of mental or physical abilities. Chronic degenerative diseases are merely the visible symptoms of unhealthy lifestyles. Such chronic degenerative diseases that have become mistakenly accepted as aging are strokes, arthritis, heart disease, arteriosclerosis, senility, cancer, dementia and others. Sadly enough these so called diseases of aging are now afflicting younger and younger generations of people.
The underlying cause of most degenerative disease can be found at the cellular level—the actual destruction of the cells. So what destroys the cells? Free Radicals! Free radicals are unstable molecules that are constantly searching to steal electrons from healthy cells to make themselves more stable. In doing so they damage the healthy cells by turning them into free radicals. This turns into a chain reaction that exponentially creates more and more free radicals. Sources of free radicals are radiation, pollution, smoking, sunburn, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, stress, excessive exercise, and countless others.
How do we neutralize free radicals? One way is Antioxidants! Antioxidants come in the form of vitamins and nutrients such as Vitamin A, Beta Carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid, CoEnzyme Q10, Selenium, Green Tea, bio flavanoids and carotenoids. Antioxidants are found in food sources, tea, and nutrient supplementation. Foods with the highest amounts of antioxidants are fruits and vegetables; organic is the best choice when available.
There is a function of antioxidant synergy. Antioxidants do not work independently; they work synergistically with one another. Vitamin C and Selenium regenerate and strengthen Vitamin E. Selenium is integral in the body’s production of glutathione, another antioxidant important in liver detoxification. Lipoic acid regenerates Vitamins C and E while increasing tissue Glutathione and Co Enzyme Q10 levels.
With the destruction and dissemination of our natural food sources, obtaining adequate amounts of vitamins, minerals, and anti oxidants through diet is becoming more and more difficult. The National Cancer Institute now recommends between 7 and 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. How many servings do you consume? And are they organic, free of pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides? This further supports the consumption of optimal nutritional supplementation.
This is why it is no longer a question of if we should bolster our nutritional levels with supplements, it is now a necessity.

For our first post under the heading “shocking facts” we would like to share with you a bit of the history to our FDA.
You have probably heard of Dr. Royal Lee. Royal Lee was a pioneer research in the nutritional sciences and whole food vitamin supplementation. His work has never been scientifically refuted and anyone who seriously undertakes the study of vitamins today corroborates Lee’s work.
Where Lee was a brilliant researcher and scientist, Lee felt the heat of the FDA. Through history, the nutritional industry has often steared in the direction of big pharma(the drug companies). Were whole food nutrients have historically been grounded in science for their positive effects on the body, isolation of nutrients has had the monetary pull, the direction that almost all of the nutritional companies have gone.
Now, keep in mind, many isolated nutrients are created by big pharma and sold to the independent nutritional companies. This gains an almost unspoken protection from the FDA for isolated nutrients.
A man like Dr Royal Lee ruffled many feathers with his research and outlook on whole food nutrients, even to the point that he was ordered by a court to burn all of his records of the last twenty years.
What does this have to do with Dr. WIley and Dr. Nelson?
Before the FDA became the FDA, it’s precursor was the Bureau of Chemistry. Up until 1912 the Bureau of Chemistry was headed by Dr. Harvey W. Wiley, a proponent to whole food nutrition. Dr. Wiley was quoted, “No food product in our country would have any trace of benzoic acid, sulfurous acid or sulfites or any alum or saccharin, save for medical purpostes. No soft drink would contain caffeine or theobromine. No bleach flour would enter interstate commerce. Our foods and drugs would be wholly without any form of adulteration and misbranding. The health of our people would be vastly improved and the life greatly extended. The manufactureres of our food supply, and especially the millers, would devote their energies to improving the public health and promoting happiness in every home by the production of whole ground, unboldted cereal flours and meals.”
Dr Wiley, this proponent for real foods and quality of health even filed suit against the Coca-cola company in an attempt to keep their artificial product out of interstate commerce, and off of the market.
Here is where the transition and transformation from the Bureau of Chemistry to the FDA began. Dr. Wiley was then replaced at the helm by a Dr. Elmer Nelson.
As you will read below from Dr. Nelson’s own words, he had a little different outlook in regards to nutrition, and in my opinion, reality for that matter. Dr Nelso once stated,”It is wholly unscientific to state that a well-fed body is more able to reist disease than a poorly fed body. My overall poinion is that there hasn’t been enough experimentation to prove that dietary deficientcies make one susceptible to disease.”
This my friends I dont even to believe to be ignorance. This is the exact hidden malicious behaviour that has been sculpting our dinner tables and medicine cabinets for almost a hundred years.
It is this type of mentality that has trained many of your health care practitioners today, and this is exactly why we need to take responisbility for our own health.

Quantum Reflex Analysis (QRA), is a rapid assessment of the body’s main organ/gland control points and interference fields for a rapid return to optimal health status.
What if there was a way your body could quickly repair a damaged organ or rejuvenate itself at an accelerated rate? What if you could regain peak mental and physical performance in spite of having been chronically ill and fatigued for years? Today, many scientists believe the secrets of regeneration and healing lie not within costly medical drugs or expensive medical treatments, but in the body’s own Quantum Energy Biofield (QEB).
More than ever it is now possible to release the body’s inherent, powerful biological quantum energy circulation matrix that is capable of speeding up renewal and regeneration in our bodies. Practitioners of QRA use the QEB as a template to define and eliminate stressors that have deactivated the body’s own potent internal healing systems for rejuvenation, endurance, vitality and longevity.
Modern medical treatments frequently underestimate the body’s magnificent internal intelligence and often end up blocking its capabilities for self healing and repair.
Personally we have found QRA to be the most eloquent and effective way of “finding whats wrong” or balancing the imbalances with individuals.
We can do either a full comrehensive consult–or–a chief complaint mini consult such as the ones listed below:
Arthritis, Asthma, Bone Loss, Osteoporosis, Osteopenia, Cystitis, Diabetes, Digestive Disorders, Edema, Hormonal Balance and more.

This is a follow up to the previous posts that we have made about adrenal fatigue and stress.
We mentioned the role that the adrenal glands play in our overall health as well as supporting us in reistance to measures of stress.
Aside from major emotional life stressors, and for that matter, the day to day hustle and bustle that tends to knock us down (the “tiger” always chasing us), did you know physical traumas can be an assault on our adrenal glands?
What kind of physcial trauma? There are many. You will see in coming articles how the meridian systems of our body work together. In our clinical nutrition practice through QRA (Quantum Reflex Analysis) we recognize this.
For example, an ankle sprain can reflex to (block the energy flow) to the adrenal glands, leading them to not accept the inherent capability of the body to heal itself. Very commonly we see surgeries or traumas as well to the abdomen and sexual organ area’s. Hernia surgeries, hysterectomies, appesiotomies, c-sections, gall bladder surgeries, etc have shown to block off such cohenerent healing energy.
What do we do about it? Nutrients still work, the problem exists that over time, toxins build in the trauma area and the body begins not to recognize it. The body now mis-reads the area and doesnt always send the proper nutrients to that area so we inevitably have to use higher amounts of nutrients.
To bypass and fix this issue we utilize mudpacks, medical grade detoxification mud that we individually test for each individual. This detoxifies the area, re-polarizes it to allow the inherent healing capabiltiy to ensue. This with lifestlye stress management, appropriate focused nutrients and healthy diet, can get you on the path to adrenal healing faster than any other program we have come across.

Welcome to our first additon to our recipe section. We will be inputting not only healthy but very tasty recipes that you can make.
The following recipe we have found to be delicious. You will notice buffalo meat is used. Buffalo is a terrific source of red meat, less saturated fat than chicken, turkey and beef. It has also been stated that it is the only mamal on earth to never get cancer.
You might notice that buffalo is popping up more often at your grocery store as well (usually in the freezer section) In most cases buffalo is free range and hormone and antibiotic free. We recommend to do research on sources on how the animal is scacrificed and processed though.
Enjoy!
Ingredients:
4 yellow squash (8 ounces each)
course sea salt and ground pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 red bell pepper (ribs and seeds removed), cut into 1/4-inch dice
2 scallions, thinly sliced, white and green parts separated
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon mild chili powder
1/2 pound ground buffalo
1 cup frozen corn kernals, thawed (optional if watching sugar intake)
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (if dairy intolerant remove from recipe)
Preheat oven to 400 dergrees with rack in the top third. Halve each squash lenghwise;slice a sliver from the rounded part of each half so it sits flat. Leaving a 1/4- inch border, scoop out halves with a small spoon; roughly chop flesh, and reserve. Place squash halves, skin down down, in a shallow baking dish. Season with salt and pepper, and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high. Add reserved chopped squash, bell pepper, scallion whites, and garlic; season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until bell pepper begins to soften, 3 or 4 minutes. Add tomato paste and chili powder; cook, stirring, until fragrant, 1 minute. Add buffalo; cook until un browned, breaking up meat with a spoon, 2 or 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in corn and 1/4 cup Parmesan; season with salt and pepper.
Dividing evenly, spoon mixture into squash halves. Sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons Parmesan. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake until squash is tender, 30 to 35 minutes. Uncover and bake until top is browned, 7 to 10 minutes more. Garnish with scallion greens.

Now we want to look at what can we do to repair our adrenals?
First of all lets talk about lifestyle techniques. Mediation, prayer, tai chi, yoga, and various relaxation techniques should be considered. Remeber its the over stimulation and lack of control in life that suppresses the actions of our adrenal glands.
Basic nutrients that have been shown to support adrenal activity are vitamin C, Magnesium, B vitamins (especially b4) are the main ones to help build the adrenals.
Adaptogens are complex’s or single nutrients that will allow the adrenals to kick back so they can ride on autopilot as well as help support a consistent enery throughout the day. Examples are cordyceps (our favoriate), licorice, ashwanganda, ginseng, and rhodiola.
Glandulars are used when adrenal outflow has been even more compromised. This would be those whose lab tests represent this or possibly have great energy drops throughout the day.
When adrenal outflow is severly comprimised a doctor might consider putting an individual on cortef, which is kin to replenishing the normal cortisol levels in the system. This should be carefully monitored if chosen to do so.
Remember, quality nutrients are a must, you can find more information in our consumer awareness guide..Are Your Vitamins Making You Sick?
