Oprah Say’s She Has a Thyroid Disorder…

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

….And she just might be right!

considering that an underactive thyroid is one of the most under diagnosed dis-eases in our culture.

Why am I writing this?  Yes because Oprah is a very common search word on the internet and so is thryoid, but also because the diagnosis and treatment of thryoid disorders often leaves people in a perguatory of health.

Keep in mind, it is not just about thryoid hormones, its about environmental toxins as well, especially heavy metals.  The thyroid gland can be a magnet for both heavy metals and radiation toxicity as well.

See our article on “Uncovering thryoid disorders” via a search in the search box.

M.R.S.A.- “SUPER BUG” WITH A PURPOSE?

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) just published an article on their website (can be found at http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/298/15/1763) about the pervasiveness of a type of super bug known as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.)
This is huge!  The study states that “More than 90,000 Americans get potentially deadly infections each year from a drug-resistant staph super bug.”
Deaths tied to these infections may exceed those caused by AIDS, said one public health expert commenting on the new study.
Most drug-resistant staph cases are mild skin infections. But this study focused on invasive infections — those that enter the bloodstream or destroy flesh and can turn deadly.
An invasive form of the disease is being blamed for the death Monday of a 17-year-old Virginia high school senior. Doctors said the germ had spread to his kidneys, liver, lungs and muscles around his heart.
There were 988 reported deaths among infected people in the study, for a rate of 6.3 per 100,000. That would translate to 18,650 deaths annually, although the researchers don’t know if MRSA was the cause in all cases.
The results underscore the need for better prevention measures. That includes curbing the overuse of antibiotics and improving hand-washing and other hygiene procedures among hospital workers, said the CDC’s Dr. Scott Fridkin, a study co-author.
Some hospitals have drastically cut infections by first isolating new patients until they are screened for MRSA.
A survey earlier this year suggested that MRSA infections, including noninvasive mild forms, affect 46 out of every 1,000 U.S. hospital and nursing home patients — or as many as 5 percent. These patients are vulnerable because of open wounds and invasive medical equipment that can help the germ spread.
Dr. Buddy Creech, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University, said the JAMA study emphasizes the broad scope of the drug-resistant staph “epidemic,” and highlights the need for a vaccine, which he called “the holy grail of staphylococcal research.”
Health Warrior’s Take on this:
Check out www.allisure.com.  This is a garlic compound imported from Europe.  They test this stuff on MRSA to make sure that it is active and strong.  Check out the website and you will see what this stuff can cover.  It KILLS MRSA!  Now I am not saying this is the answer for the 90,000 cases noted above, but given the evidence it sure shows some promise.
In our clinic and QRA practice we utilize two of the companies that import this to our country.  We find it has applications for everything from acne, sinus infections, issues of Candida and more.  We even use a liquid nanized version of this product for deep seated infections related to diabetes, blood pressure and even kidney infections.
Research is showing that underlying infections may be the cause for many of our society’s health problems for blood pressure to arthrities to diabetes and more.  This study is just looking at one type of bug and infection.  It is the job of clinicians and practitioners to more efficiently hunt down these infections eradicate them so that we have the immune system that does not allow us to fall victim to a super bug such as this.
On the topic of vaccinations for MRSA.  I feel Dr Buddy Creech either has a vested such interest or is that hoodwinked by the flawed vaccination policies that our medical system holds dear.
How many times have vaccinations shown not to be the answer?  Just look at the issues that are popping up with the new vaccination, Gardisil. (new article post soon.)
Please see our following article on vaccinations, the assault they cause on the immune system, and how they can be cleared for proper immune support.

Could Your Job be the Root of Your Depression?

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

An interesting study was just released brom the Substance Abuse and Mental Helath Service Administration.

The report noted the professions with the highest rates of depression.

Personal care professions such as child care, caring for the elderly and the disabled came in at the highest at 11%.

Next highest was the food service industry such as food preps, bartenders, waiters and waitresses at 10.3%

The third highest were health care and social workers ringing in at 9.6%.

The professions with the lowest percentage of depression were engineers, architects and surveyors.

Another interesting tidbit that came out of this study is about depression and employment.  Those employed averaged a 7% depression rate and those unemployed represented a 12.7% depression rate (highest value in the entire study.)

The take home—Lack of Control!!

As Dr. Pamela Smith has mentioned in her latest book, Demystifying Weight Loss, in regards to professions with the highest level of stress were ones with the least control.(see related articles on this site on adrenal fatigue).

Sex Problems and Anti-Depressants

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

One of the most common side-effects to anti-depressants are problems with sex.  Nearly 40 percent of women who take certain anti-depressants experience sexual side effects such as decreased desire and difficulty reaching orgasm.  And this 40 percent represents those who open up about this.

Heartburn Medication Rising Dramatically with Children

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

After an analysis of prescription data done by pharmacy benefits management company, Medco Health Soultions, results show that the number of young children on prescription drugs for heart burn and other digestive problems jumped about 56 percent in recent years.  Researchers are saying that obesity and overuse might be contribution to the surprising increase.

Digestive disorders are one of the biggest problems in our society.  It has created a billion dollar market in purple pills.

I have to say the digestive disorders, use of such meds and obesity are all a secondary result of the Standard American Diet (SAD)  Eating such dead foods and non foods like the packaged wonders found in the inner isles of the grocery stores not only our digestive enzymes are being exhausted at such an earlier age.

Most of the medications only treat the symptoms and often times confound the problem.

What can we do about it? start eating healthier meals, live foods with digestive enzymes already on boared and avoid all of the faux food products that are being thrown at us.
