Eating With Awareness

Enjoy your meals in a serene, attractive setting with artwork that you like, unchipped dishes, and flatware that fits your hand.  The whole experience should be aesthetically pleasing.  Food is more nourishing when you sit comforably, eat with awareness, and take time to enjoy the flavor instead of eating on the run.  There is an expression in India, “Food is Brahman,” which means that food is the divine wholeness bestowed upon you.  Eating with awareness allows you to honor the gift of the food, which is often taken for granted.  Food is one of the main sources from which we obtain prana.  Eating with awareness allows you to absorb more of the prana from the food.  So drop the hectic, busy pace of life, at least while you are eating.  Take an attitude of mindfulness and consider the food as prasad, a gift from the divine intended to nurture your inner and ourter development and your ability to flourish in life.”
